With the onset of rising fuel prices, rising costs of goods and services, more record breaking profits and news reports dooming us because of global warming, here are some items of interest that would break the back of the big business barons who are doing everything in their power to hobble us.  (Full Article)

The "crude" truth -- diesel engines -- oil companies' great fear

In my past articles about what is going on with the oil companies and their pursuit of profits, I did not give you the solution. The solution is simple and it scares the oil giants. In this article, I will show you the way to lessen the impact of gasoline prices to your wallet. I believe that if we lessen our reliance, as a nation, on foreign and domestic oil we will be less inclined to the whims of lobbyists and foreign powers and enjoy a cleaner environment.  (Full Article)

The "crude" truth -- about pollution and global warming

I was going to write about BP and their safety record but my research into this topic demonstrated me that BP is not alone. What happened to the pipeline in Alaska is not the first occurrence of this type of disaster. Pipeline ruptures are common in the oil industry. We just do not hear about them. Why? Our media does not report about such things because it happens in a poor country like Nigeria or some other country outside the US.  (Full Aticle)

The "crude" truth -- money trail

I was asked to simplify what is going on in the oil and gas industry. My dilemma is this, how do you simplify something that is so complex? This was not an easy problem to solve but I came up with a solution.

Money is something that everyone understands. We have to go to work to make money to pay our mortgages, utility bills and everyday living expenses. We have to budget, allocate and balance what we have to spend every day of our lives. That is why I am going to give you the dollars and cents of "THE CRUDE TRUTH."  (Full Article)

The "crude" truth toxin cover-up

Our gasoline is oxygenated by MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether) since 1979 at low levels. MTBE is a chemical compound manufactured by the chemical reaction of methanol and isobutylene. MTBE is used as an octane enhancer as a replacement for lead. What this does is it helps prevent the engine from "knocking."

In 1990, our Legislators passed the Clean Air Act Amendments. This rose the oxygenate requirements of gasoline causing MTBE to be used at higher concentrations. Why our Legislators passed the Clean Air Act was because many areas in the United States had unhealthy levels of air pollution.  (Full Article)

The "crude" truth

I am going to say this before I begin. You are not going to be happy when you read this article. I have spent many hours reading articles and researching this topic. What I have found is that there are many players and profit is the motive. This is not limited to the United States because I have found international connections in high places. The sad thing is that the United States is very much involved.  (Full Article)

EU to allow nations to ban approved GM crops
Fri Jun 4, 2010, 11:42 am ET

BRUSSELS (AFP) – Individual EU nations will be free to ban genetically modified crops, even if they are deemed safe and approved, under rule changes being drawn up by Brussels to unblock the clearance process.

Opponents speak of 'frankenfoods' which will inevitably contaminate other crops and for which there can be no definitive evidence of their safety.

"The public and environment will only be protected if the proposal is backed up by Europe-wide measures to prevent our food and feed from being contaminated," said the group's food and agriculture campaigner Adrian Bebb.

Holyrood anger as new UK minister backs GM crops
Published Date: 05 June 2010, The Scotsman
By Andrew Whitaker

THE Scottish and UK governments could be set for a clash over controversial genetically modified (GM) crops after a key Tory minister appeared to back growing them in Britain.

The newly installed UK Environment Secretary, Caroline Spelman, said she was in favour of GM foods "in the right circumstances" during a newspaper interview.

However, the Scottish Government rushed to make clear its "fundamental" opposition to the move, which could potentially mean GM crops being grown in Border areas such as Northumberland and Cumbria, affecting Scotland.
